About

I am a computer programmer living in New York City with my husband Robby, 4 (mostly-grown) step-children,  toddler daughter, dog, elderly cat,  and ball python.

I have been a computer consultant experiences in the whole development life cycle since 1997.

I started off in Quality Assurance and automated testing. I used a number of testing tools including Rational Robot, WinRunner, and e-Test Suite.  I was certified in both WinRunner and e-Test Suite.

I have dabble with Java and was certified back in the Java 2 days. Though having not used it much lends to forgetting.

I am expert in ColdFusion (versions from 4.5 through 10) and SQL Server (versions 6.0 – 2012). I am very experienced in JavaScript and jQuery and completed a PhoneGap mobile app using the XUI JavaScript framework.
I have experience with WordPress, PHP, MySQL. I loosely support a number of WordPress blogs that in the coming months I plan to update and modernize.

Currently I host my websites on shared hosting. Before my year subscription is up (September 2015) I plan to move all my sites to Digital Ocean  <-affiliate link

In order to do that, I am teaching myself to be able to administer a website.

Thus far I have been playing with XAMP on my windows machine. Playing around with virtual machines so I get comfortable with Linux. I love that there is so much free software out there to learn.

I currently have a full-time job that I enjoy.  I will be looking to change when we are ready to move out of NYC.

Additionally at the day job we are moving away from ColdFusion to Microsoft .NET. This is a great opportunity to learn a new language and not start out at a more Junior position.  I’ve already done that once when I got my first ColdFusion job (the 4 years prior I was doing most SQL stuff-data migration and data clean up).

I have to say, I do think the MVC 4 framework appears to be quite elegant.

Note, I will recommend and review products, some of which I will get a little kick-back. I will try and point out affiliate links. I will always be honest with my reviews and opinions.
